— Why he’s one of the greats
Read the text, count your points, chain Scripture, and make the room say the truth.
The charismatic renewal and the global Bible-teaching tape era. Derek Prince was a Cambridge-trained philosopher who met Christ in an army barracks in 1941 and spent the next six decades teaching the Bible on several continents. His messages spread by cassette, radio and print far beyond the rooms where he spoke. His secret: he taught like a classics don and pleaded like an evangelist. He announced his frame in the first minute, counted his points out loud (“Number one... number two”), and chained Scripture to Scripture, often eight to fifteen passages in one message, reading each and defining its key words. Then he made the truth personal: a story from Kenya, Cambridge or the army, and often a line the whole room said back to him until they owned it. He compressed whole doctrines into one portable sentence, such as “The cross was the place of exchange.”

What makes his style unique
“Courage to speak on Bible topics that most preachers were afraid to think about, let alone teach.”
