Common questions
What's the difference between helps and service?
They overlap, but service (Romans 12:7) is drawn to needed tasks, while helps (1 Corinthians 12:28) is drawn to needed people — releasing a specific person or leader for their ministry. Phoebe was a patron "of many and of myself as well."
Is helps a lesser gift?
Paul says the opposite: the body parts that seem weaker are indispensable, and God gives greater honor to the less visible (1 Corinthians 12:22–24). No helps, no church.
