— Why he’s one of the greats
Verse by verse, no notes, and the title phrase turned into a command.
Philip Anthony Mitchell preaches to a room of mostly young adults in south Atlanta and to a far larger audience on YouTube. He spent three years preaching straight through Matthew, then moved into Acts, John and Ephesians, always verse by verse. His secret: he preaches without notes, so the sermon feels like a man who just walked out of the prayer room, because he often has. He walks a short passage verse by verse, but he stops at the pressure points to confess his own past: despair, lust, years in the street. Then he turns the title phrase into a command (“Deal aggressively with this”) and presses it home with urgency that time is running out. He closes in prayer more often than with a formal call.

What makes his style unique
“He biblically talks about sin and repentance and how there’s actually hope in the Gospel.”
